Raw Organic Acacia Honey with Honeycomb Chunk – 500g Jar

This exquisite raw organic Acacia honey, harvested by certified organic beekeeper Antal, comes from the remote, pristine Acacia forests of Hungary. With more Acacia forests in Hungary than in the rest of Europe combined, this honey stays runny much longer and retains its clear, golden appearance. Antal carefully places his hives in two distinct regions: the Kiskunság National Park, located in Hungary’s Great Plain, and the untouched wilderness of the northern Carpathian region of Nógrád. Both areas are known for their lush forests, where bees thrive on the delicate Acacia blossoms, resulting in one of the purest honey varieties available.

Product Highlights

  • Cold-pressed and coarsely filtered to preserve the beneficial natural enzymes and pollen.
  • Sourced from the pristine Acacia forests of Hungary, which has more Acacia trees than the rest of Europe combined, ensuring purity and a longer runny state.
  • Artisan-crafted by Antal, a certified organic beekeeper, using sustainable, organic methods.
  • Contains a honeycomb chunk, adding texture and visual appeal to this already delightful honey.
  • 100% raw and unheated, ensuring all natural enzymes are preserved.
  • Low glycaemic index, making it suitable for those sensitive to sugar.

Flavour

Raw Organic Acacia honey has a mild, sweet flavour with delicate floral notes. Its mildness allows it to be versatile in cooking, baking, or simply enjoyed on its own. It is often preferred in drinks or recipes where stronger honey varieties might overpower the other flavours.

Colour

This honey is a light golden colour, reminiscent of liquid sunshine, with the honeycomb chunk adding visual depth and authenticity.

Where Does the Honey Come From?

Antal operates in two distinct zones: the early-blooming Acacia trees in Kiskunság National Park in the Great Plain of Hungary, and the later-blooming trees in the rugged wilderness of the northern Carpathian region of Nógrád, with its breathtaking valleys and towering peaks. The Carpathian Mountains provide a wilderness that is ideal for producing pure, organic honey, as there is little industrial influence.

Who Produces the Honey?

Antal is a certified organic beekeeper whose family has been in beekeeping for generations. His careful management of his hives, and attention to detail, results in a honey that is true to its natural state, unprocessed and full of flavour.

What About the Tree the Honey Comes From?

The Acacia tree, also known as the black locust tree, is actually a flowering shrub in the legume family. It is known for its beautiful, light-smelling nectar, which the bees adore. Acacia honey is a real Hungarian speciality due to the large number of Acacia forests in the region.

Common Uses

Acacia honey is particularly good for for herb teas and coffee because it doesn’t alter the flavour, and its mild taste makes it perfect for baking, salad dressings, and even glazes for meats.

Acacia Honey Facts

Acacia honey has a relatively low glycaemic index, meaning it is suitable for those sensitive to sugar. It also stays runny for much longer than most raw honey varieties, preserving its pristine, liquid gold appearance for months.

How Raw Honey is Different from Processed Honey

Raw honey is minimally processed, meaning it’s packed with natural enzymes, pollen, and nutrients that are often lost during processing. Most supermarket honeys are processed to create a uniform appearance, often being drained of pollen, heated, and blended. Raw honey changes in flavour, colour, and texture depending on the season and the flowers that bees feed on, making each batch unique.

Crystallisation in Raw Honey

Raw honey tends to crystallise over time due to its natural glucose content. This is a natural process and does not affect the quality of the honey. For more information on why honey crystallises, visit our blog or check Wikipedia for a more scientific explanation.
