Description

Awarded the coveted Platinum Quality Award at the 2021 London Honey Awards and a Gold Award in the 2021 Taste Awards Competition.

Premium wilderness honey from traditional award-winning Greek beekeeper.

This is an outstanding high quality honey from the forests on the slopes of the seat of the Gods, Mount Olympus.  It won Platinum at the 2021 London Honey Awards.

This honey has a strong depth of flavour much like an Oak honey but what makes it special is the complex flavour from the herbs that grow on Mount Olympus.  A very special honey and well deserved award winner.

About the beekeepers: One of our very trusted beekeepers Asterios introduced us to this honey from Dimitris.  Asterios is lucky enough to have an amazing network of fellow artisan Greek beekeepers and he was very excited for us to taste this honey.  Organic beekeeper Dimitris who has his hives on Mount Olympus believes that honey in the jar should be as it was in the hives and produces the highest quality honey which keeps winning awards.

More on honeydew honey: This is a dark thick honey – it is known as a honeydew, because it is from the sap and resin of the tree not from flower nectar.  Honeydews are high in oligosaccharides, which are known for their prebiotic qualities- aiding digestion.

How Raw Honey is Different from Processed Honey

Raw honey is minimally processed, meaning it’s packed with natural enzymes, pollen, and nutrients that are often lost during processing. Most supermarket honeys are processed to create a uniform appearance, often being drained of pollen, heated, and blended. Raw honey changes in flavour, colour, and texture depending on the season and the flowers that bees feed on, making each batch unique.

Crystallisation in Raw Honey

Raw honey tends to crystallise over time due to its natural glucose content. This is a natural process and does not affect the quality of the honey. For more information on why honey crystallises, visit our blog or check Wikipedia for a more scientific explanation.
