Description

Raw Northern Organic Forest & Wild Flower Honey – 5kg Bucket

This unique honey is ideal for those who enjoy a mix of both meadow flower and forest honey characteristics. Sourced from untouched wildflower meadows and forests in Lithuania, this honey captures the rich biodiversity of the region. Thanks to the honeydew from nearby forests, it crystallises more slowly than typical meadow flower honey and offers a deeper, more complex flavour. Beekeeper Laimonas, whose family has been beekeeping for generations, has crafted this honey with great care, ensuring it remains 100% raw, unheated, and certified organic.

If you are thinking of stocking up, this 5kg option offers great value. At £17.99 per kilo, you save over £10 compared to buying five individual 1kg jars, which are priced at £19.99 per kilo.

Flavour

This honey is crafted from nectar and honeydew gathered by bees from a rich variety of plants, including willow (Salix), fennel (Apiaceae), bramble (Rubus), clover (Trifolium repens), and traces of linden (Tilia). These floral sources contribute to the honey's sweet, slightly minty, and slightly bitter profile, with subtle notes of fennel and the freshness of forest blooms. Its flavour is well-balanced, with hints of herbal and floral tones, making it truly unique.

Colour

This honey has a medium brown colour, darker than typical meadow honeys but lighter than most tree honeys.

Where Does It Come From?

Beekeeper Laimonas harvests this honey from wildflower meadows adjacent to Lithuania's northern forests. These untouched landscapes provide a diverse range of flora and ensure the bees collect nectar from natural, pesticide-free environments. The addition of forest honeydew gives this honey its unique flavour and slower crystallisation.

More About Laimonas and His Beekeeping Heritage

Laimonas follows an ancient tradition of beekeeping, passed down through generations in his family. His deep understanding of bees and nature allows him to produce superb, high-quality honey, with a focus on preserving the raw, natural qualities of the honey he harvests.

How Raw Honey is Different from Processed Honey

Raw honey generally means the honey has not been processed; it has come from the hive to the jar with minimal interference. Most supermarket honey is highly processed to make it look more attractive, usually drained of pollen, heated, and blended. Raw honey tends to vary from batch to batch because it is not processed in a factory, filtered, blended or heated to look homogeneous. Raw honey changes with the season and climate, the soil, what the bees feed on, and the nature of the colonies. Each batch is unique.

Crystallisation

Raw honey naturally crystallises over time due to its glucose content. This process does not affect the quality of the honey. To return crystallised honey to a runny state, gently warm the jar. For more details on crystallisation, check our Runny Honey Guide or visit the section on Wikipedia regarding honey crystallisation.
